This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

Keoghs are currently recruiting for a Multi Track File Handler to deal with fast and multi-track RTA files with a value of up to £125k on both delegated and non-delegated basis, for a variety of insurer clients and the MIB.

It is important that the file handler can work independently and competently and be able to demonstrate an ability to impress the client with the extent of their legal knowledge and provide clear unambiguous advice on the strategy for bringing a claim to its resolution. A clear view on both relevant case law and appropriate evidence will be necessary. This role could be suitable for an experienced fast track personal injury handlers looking to progress in to the Multi Track arena.

The candidate should have the ability to assess complex injury claims and have knowledge and understanding of multi-track procedures.

The candidate will handle cases on behalf of the MIB and other Insurers. The successful candidate should therefore be able to recognise cases with a technical bias, e.g. whether the MIB is the correct party to pursue (having an understanding of the Uninsured Drivers and Untraced Drivers Agreement) or whether an Insurer is a contractual Insurer, RTA Insurer, or Article 75 Insurer, and what actions are required if the policyholder is a Claimant and there is a counterclaim be pursued. There will also be claims involving multiple parties.

Experience

  • Noting and abiding by Client Guidelines

  • Prepare detailed Initial reports/Reviews
  • Be able to assess Indemnity, Liability and Quantum, referencing relevant JC Guidelines/Case law
  • Case Strategy
  • Reviewing matters throughout
  • Review and/or report re exchange of evidence, receipt of medical evidence (TP or own), joints statements or at any other stage
  • Counter Schedule
  • Conferences with experts/clients

  • Reviewing evidence (eg. Witness statements, medical reports, GP records, Occupational Health/ Personnel records

  • Preparing/checking Trial Bundles
  • Reviewing surveillance
  • Attending Conferences and Trial with Counsel
  • Negotiations/ Drafting Payments into Court

  • • To ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations

Working Hours

35 hours per week

Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch.

Primary location for this role is Bolton, Parklands Office.

Experience

  • Education - a degree is preferable
  • Experience of handling both RTA work is preferable.
  • Must have a Handling Authority of at least £50k
  • An understanding of indemnity and/or the MIB would be beneficial.
