This is a Fixed Term Contract, vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

Reporting into the Group Reporting Director, the successful candidate will support the Group across a wide range of corporate tax governance, controls, compliance and reporting responsibilities and ongoing day-to-day support in respect of general tax including VAT and employment taxes advice. They will be responsible for all tax-related activities and ensure that all matters related to taxes are handled promptly and accurately.

 

This will be the first role in the organisation solely focused on tax matters with current tax affairs largely managed by professional advisers. The priority for the first 6 months would be establishing a tax strategy and tax governance framework, review of existing processes and controls, plan for addressing any gaps and identification of any tax planning opportunities. The existing professional advisers will continue to support with BAU activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementation of New and Review of existing Tax Controls and Governance framework and best practice processes

  • Support and advise on various Group Tax activities such as structuring, NBD and M&A activities.

  • Review and Revision of the Group's international tax strategy, overall and by jurisdictions.

  • Support with the SAO requirement and tax and risk management requirements.

  • Oversight of the Group’s tax compliance programme including a review of all jurisdictional filings

  • Assistance with analysis of Effective Tax Rate to support Reforecast, Budget and Strategic Planning processes.

  • Reviewing existing transfer pricing policies and procedures and implementation of the Group Transfer pricing strategy

  • Repatriation and Financing strategies

  • Input to Group Structuring, New Business and M&A projects.

  • Responsibility for interim and year-end tax accounting and reporting liaising with Group Reporting and Group’s tax advisers.

  • Being the subject matter expert within the business for all taxes and support, including ad hoc queries, liaising with advisers as needed (eg Corporation tax, VAT, R&D relief, CIS, ERS, global mobility and employment taxes)

  • Identify, develop strategies, and reduce any tax risks with the help of auditors

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • Previous experience as a Head of / Director of Tax or experience in a similar role
  • Excellent knowledge in tax accounting, tax compliance and tax returns
  • Extensive corporate tax experience of multinational groups working at a senior level in a large accountancy firm or in an in-house Corporate Tax role.
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills
  • Great communication skills with the ability to build and develop relationships.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax legislation and experience in tax reporting and accounting
  • Hold a CTA and/or ACA qualification.
  • Strong systems skills, particularly in Excel and Word
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
